Here is the story of Colt's birth...I went into the hospital on Wednesday morning about 5:45am. I was dilated 2 centimeters and after they got me all hooked up and everything, the doctor came in and he said he could not feel the baby's head. He was head down, just not ready to be born. So they hooked me up with Pitocin and gave me an epidural and we waited. After several hours, I finally got to 6 centimeters and stayed there for what seems like forever. Then my epidural quit working, but the Pitocin was still working. I felt really hard labor for two hours, when they decided to take it out and redo it. After that, I was fine. I actually started to relax and sleep. I got to 8 centimeters, and the doctor came in and said we needed to do a c-section. Colt's heart rate was dropping with each contraction and the doctor didn't think we should wait any longer. So, they wheeled us back and there we were. I was very disappointed, especially after being in labor all day, but when they got him out, they found a knot in his cord that was stretching with each contraction. This is why he would not drop on down into the birth canal. God was protecting him. It was really hard that next morning, pain wise. I have had a c-section before, but I was 20 at the time, and I'm a little older now and am not going to bounce right back like I did then. We got to come home Friday afternoon, still very sore, but making it. Saturday and Sunday was very hard, but after Monday, I seemed to be doing a lot better. I feel almost normal today. Although things did not go according to plan, God was gracious through it all. I have the best doctor and the nurses were all so wonderful to me. Now, we have our little Colt Benjamin and all is well. God is so good.
